In this Marketing Minute:

  • How to make your bio reader-focused
  • The formula for an interesting author bio
  • A quick example to follow

Your author bio isn’t about you.

It’s about your reader—and whether they trust you enough to buy your book.

Most author bios start with where you live and what pets you have. That’s fine—at the bottom.

If you want your bio to convert browsers into buyers, here’s what it really needs:

The 3-Part Bio Formula

  • Write it like a book blurb—with the reader in mind.
  • Keep it short, specific, and easy to copy/paste.
  • Use it everywhere: Amazon, back cover, website, social media.

Your bio should sell the story first. Here’s a quick example:

1. Establish credibility: “Raynie Andrewsen writes page-turning mysteries with heart.”

2. Show connection: “Fans of Louise Penny and Rhys Bowen will feel right at home.”

3, Add flavor: “When she’s not chasing plot twists, she’s tending tomatoes and sipping green tea.”

Keep it short, relevant, and memorable.

Make it about them, and they’ll care more about you.
